We have to remember that, if we visit a country, we must know every tourist place we can, for this we will have to adequately inform all the necessary of each destination that we have in mind.
On this occasion, we will talk about Puno, a destination that many think that this place is only Lake Titicaca and its islands. But let me tell you that they are wrong, a clear example is Las Chullpas de Sillustani, also known as the Sillustani Cemetery. This beautiful place is located 34 kilometers from Puno, at an altitude of 4000 meters above sea level, on an esplanade surrounded by the Umayo lagoon.
The archaeological complex of Sillustani is conformed by 90 chullpas, which each one would be representing a noble family of that then. These Chullpas are built on blocks of volcanic stones extracted from two canyons near the site.
In order to be buried in these tombs, they must first be embalmed, give a specific position (fetal), in addition to entering these tombs they should be buried with their belongings that they possessed when they were alive. For the introduction in the Chullpas, they had to be placed through an opening facing east, which would have the exact dimension for a person.
At present the investigations still follow, they are not explained how they could manage to construct these tombs the Collas, since the Chullpas presented a somewhat strange finish, each one in its tower was totally cylindrical, the most extraordinary is that all its construction is based of stones, and some of them reaches 12 meters in height.
